"Speaking to the clients I met over the past few weeks, one of the things repeated by them was that the quoted project duration was shorter than other quotes - and fixed.

A couple of other things came out that might be useful, although all the people I spoke to had got hold of Chris by recommendation, not the Yellow Pages, so I only got a feel for what sold it in the end:

• The price was either the most expensive or second most expensive quote;
• Chris was the key to final sale (everyone said they were partly buying the person);
• For the loft design, Chris was able to come up with ideas that best matched theirs;
• A couple were particularly taken by staged payments; and
• Generally the most competent company."
